Getting started as a tenant on RentBetter

Updated over a month ago

Welcome to our tenant help centre! We understand that moving into a new rental property can be a daunting task, but don't worry - we're here to guide you through the process.

In this article:

What is RentBetter?

RentBetter is a technology platform designed to help property owners self-manage their properties.

On RentBetter, you rent directly from the property owner, removing the need for a property manager or agent. Our platform saves everyone time and aims to provide you with a positive renting experience by streamlining the rental process, making it easier and quicker to manage your needs throughout the tenancy.

Although you'll primarily be dealing directly with your landlord or rental provider, RentBetter is also here to support and guide you throughout your tenancy.

How do I sign up?

If your landlord has signed up for RentBetter and invited you, you'll receive an invitation to join their tenancy on the platform. You must receive an invitation to join RentBetter.

Once invited, you will receive an email and SMS with the next steps to complete the onboarding process. You can follow the unique link in the email/SMS you receive to get started.

Example:

What happens after I sign up?

One of the first things you will need to do is complete the onboarding steps set up by your landlord or rental provider. These steps may vary depending on how they have set up your lease, but they typically include the following:

  • Signing the lease agreement

  • Adding a payment method

  • Making the bond payment

  • Paying your first rental payment

  • Completing the condition report

You will also find the list of steps you need to complete on your tenant dashboard inside your account. Your dashboard is designed to give you full transparency on everything to do with your tenancy.

We recommend that you complete these onboarding steps as soon as possible to ensure a smooth move-in process. If you have any questions or concerns you should contact your landlord or rental provider for help as a first step.

Please get in touch with us via the support chat or email info@rentbetter.com.au and we can help further.

I'm a tenant who has applied for a property on RentBetter - What do I do next?

When you complete an application for a property on RentBetter this is done via 2Apply, and it is automatically passed directly to the property owner.

We ask all property owners on RentBetter to respond to applications within a reasonable timeframe. If you do not hear from them, you can contact them through the 'enquire' button on the property ad. If you email info@rentbetter.com.au we can also forward your email to the owner for consideration.

Please note that RentBetter does not determine who is selected to lease the property. This decision is made directly by the property owner. If you are selected, the owner will initiate the tenancy setup process, and you will receive an invitation from RentBetter to get started on the platform.

I'm a tenant looking for a property - Do you list any for rent?

RentBetter is a platform that landlords use to manage their own properties. We don’t list any properties so if you’re looking for a home, we’d suggest using one of the listing portals like realestate.com.au, domain.com.au or rent.com.au.

We hope this helps and best of luck with your search! 🙂
