The Tenant Dashboard

Getting started as a tenant on RentBetter

Updated over a week ago

The tenant dashboard on RentBetter is a central hub where you can manage all aspects of your tenancy. The dashboard is designed to streamline and enhance your renting experience by providing all the tools and information you need in one convenient place.

In this article:

Overview - What does your Dashboard help with?

  • Communication: Easily communicate with your landlord through the platform via the 'Messenger'.

  • Documents: Access and sign important documents, such as your lease agreement, receipts and other notices for your tenancy.

  • Bills and Payments: View, manage, and make your rent payments securely and pay any outstanding bills.

  • Maintenance Requests: Submit and track maintenance and repair requests.

  • Notifications: Receive updates and reminders about payments and other important tenancy matters.

Your tenant dashboard has two different views depending on the state of your tenancy:

  1. Onboarding View: This dashboard outlines the steps you need to take to successfully onboard to your tenancy. It helps to guide you through the initial setup process, ensuring you complete all necessary tasks to start your lease.

  2. Active Tenancy View: Once you have moved in and your lease is active, the dashboard will move into the active tenancy view. You can access all finalised documents and manage everything related to your tenancy, including payments, maintenance requests, and communication with your landlord/rental provider.

Read further below for more details on each view.

Onboarding Dashboard

The onboarding dashboard is shown after you set up your tenant account. You can easily view the actions and steps required to set up your tenancy.

Typically the first step you need to take is to sign the lease agreement and add a payment method. On RentBetter, the lease agreement document must be signed by all parties before you can progress with any other steps.

Once these tasks are complete you will be able to view the other steps such as making the bond and first rental payment or completing the condition report.

Active Tenancy Dashboard

When your onboarding is complete and you have moved into the property, your dashboard will update to the active tenancy dashboard.

You can view your finalised lease agreement documents, bond details, and rental payment schedule, as well as manage things like tenant bills and maintenance requests.

If you need to communicate with your landlord/rental provider, you can click the 'Send message' button. This will open up a message thread in your RentBetter inbox and notify your landlord via email there is a new message for them to view via their account.

General FAQs

I have signed the lease but I am not able to complete any further onboarding steps - why?

On RentBetter, the lease agreement document must be signed by all parties before you can progress with any other steps. If you have signed the agreement but your co-tenants or landlord has not yet signed the agreement then you will not be able to progress further until this is completed.

I set up my payment method but the step is showing on my dashboard.

If the 'add payment method' button is still visible on your tenant dashboard then this means that you have yet to verify it. To protect our customers all payment methods are required to be verified.

Please follow the steps inside your RentBetter account to verify your payment method and get in touch with our team via the support chat or email if you are having any issues.

I need to make a change to the set-up - what can I do?

If you need to make any changes to your lease and set up you will need to contact your landlord/rental provider first to let them know. They can then either make the changes via their account or contact the RentBetter team on your behalf and we can help further.
